TRI-STATE SHOOTING PARK, INC
Minutes for Feb 1, 2017
Meeting called to order by Pres. Ron Lew @ 7:01p.m.
Game & Fish representative Cody Johnston had no update concerning poaching incident of an aged sheep: could have been a mercy kill of the older sheep. He reminded all that if you come across an injured animal to call dispatch @ 1-800352-0700 & someone from Game & Fish will come out to take care of the animal, wild or domestic. G & F feels the feeding of wild burros has greatly contributed to the overpopulation as there is no regulation against the feeding of wild animals, & there should be.
The trout limit has been reduced from 10 to 5 due to the City has stopped assisting G&F with funds & the recent opening of the fish hatchery @ Willow beach. It has been reported the Strippers are doing real good now.
Jamie Starr stated the R.S.O. class has been pushed back due to low interest. There needs to be 4-6 people to do a class, right now there are only 2, so if anyone is thinking about this, now is a good time to call Jamie. With the great interest & growth of our club, the need for more R.S.O.’s is also growing. Future growth may make it necessary for 2 people to oversee the safety of the range on public days. Don’t forget we operate on a volunteer basis only, & without your help we cannot grow & maintain our club. Many thanks to those who give their time to set up activities, clean up, repair, & oversee the safety of all at the pistol & rifle range, so everyone please say thank you to those who volunteer & help them out whenever you can. Jamie Starr is also looking into an instruction marathon class: pistol, rifle, and shotgun, If interested give her a call. More details will be announced in the future.
There will be a BHC clean up on March 15, Wednesday 8-12 @ Silvercreek area. Many from our club helped last year, the cleanup made a great impact & she is looking for more volunteers again this year. Call Jamie to add your name to the list.
Kevin Ward stated all who did Hunter Ed. Class passed. WooHoo! Congratulations to great instructors for teaching another successful class.
The metal shooting plates on the 50 yard range are being well used & appreciated on a regular basis, so much so that the club is working on adding more. Any ideas or anyone who would like to help with this project call Kevin. The markers in the ground are set for a minimum safe shooting distance. ALL SHOOTERS: stay behind the red line when you are not the only person shooting. To all: if you see anyone
being unsafe, kindly remind them of the posted rules, if any trouble, call Robbie, Ron Lew or 911.
ABC Construction has kindly donated all of the block for our new club house. Stop in & tell Brian thank you, & give them any business you can.
Reminder: NRA Ballots for board members are out now, if you need one contact NRA & have them send you a ballot. We are asking for all club members of the NRA to vote for Robert Mansell, as he has done a lot to help & support our club, so let’s thank him by getting him on the NRA Board. We have been reminded to vote for only 2 or 3 people maximum.
While Jim Jennings is recuperating, Cheryl Johnson is filling in as Secretary.
